Kaduna is well served by one non-interest bank and thinly by the rest. TAJBank's published location list shows eight offices in Kaduna State, more than it has in any state other than Kano, Lagos and the FCT: seven in Kaduna metropolis, at Ali Akilu Road (Kaduna Main and Kawo), Kasuwan Bacci, Magajin Gari, Sabon Tasha, Rigasa and Yakubu Gowon Way, and one in Zaria on Kaduna Road by PZ. The Alternative Bank has a branch at 9 Ali Akilu Road. Jaiz Bank's online locator did not return a Kaduna office when we checked, and Lotus Bank publishes no branch list, so confirm both by phone before travelling. The addresses, what each bank offers locally and the branchless options follow; the bank accounts hub compares the accounts themselves.

The table lists only offices that appear on the banks' own websites as fetched on 9 September 2026. TAJBank's 'Our Locations' page lists 69 offices nationwide with a bank code for each; The Alternative Bank's branch list shows 33 outlets. Call ahead: AltBank's own page says 'outlet details are updated periodically. Please call ahead to confirm opening hours before visiting', and that advice applies to every entry below.

The geography is useful. TAJBank has placed branches on both sides of the Kaduna River, with Sabon Tasha covering the southern suburbs and Rigasa the western ones, and in the two biggest market zones, Kasuwan Bacci and Magajin Gari. Ali Akilu Road alone has three non-interest offices within a short walk: TAJBank Kaduna Main at number 20, AltBank at number 9 and TAJBank Kawo further north. For Zaria, TAJBank's branch on Kaduna Road by PZ is the only verified non-interest bank office in the city; students and staff at Ahmadu Bello University are otherwise served by apps and agents.

Jaiz Bank and Lotus Bank in Kaduna: what we could and could not verify

Jaiz Bank is the oldest non-interest bank in Nigeria and describes itself as a national bank 'owned by over 26,000 shareholders spread over the six geopolitical zones'. Its website locator, which loaded 103 ATMs, agents and offices when we fetched it, returned entries in Abuja, Bauchi, Borno, Adamawa, Plateau, Lagos and Oyo but no Kaduna or Zaria office; the page appears to load only part of the network. We are therefore not listing a Jaiz Kaduna address we cannot see on the bank's own site. Call 07007730000 or use the *773# USSD menu to confirm the nearest Jaiz branch and agent before visiting. The Jaiz Bank profile covers its accounts.

Lotus Bank's site has a 'Branch / ATM Locator' button, but the underlying page did not render a list in our fetch, and the only addresses the bank publishes are its head office at 39c Ahmed Onibudo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, and, via its sister company Lotus Capital, a Kano branch at 59 Murtala Mohammed Way. Lotus is a Lagos-headquartered bank whose only published northern address is in Kano; a Kaduna customer should expect to open and run the account through the app, USSD and agents rather than a branch, and should call 0700 56887 2265 (0700 LOTUS BANK) to ask whether a Kaduna office has opened since this page was written. The Lotus Bank profile has the product detail. Summit Bank's website did not resolve when we tried it, so we cannot comment on its presence in the state.

What each bank actually offers a Kaduna customer

Branch count matters less than product fit, and the two banks with physical presence have different strengths. TAJBank's local network and its product set suit traders, civil servants and families in the metropolis; AltBank's single branch is backed by a strong app and a business and agriculture finance franchise. Jaiz and Lotus remain fully usable from Kaduna through digital channels.

For a trader at Kasuwan Bacci or Central Market, TAJBank's branch-plus-agent model and its murabaha trade finance are the natural first choice; our profile of TAJBank and the guide to agent banking for market traders explain how the agent channel works day to day. For a farmer or agro-processor in the Zaria, Giwa or Soba axis, AltBank's agriculture and export finance desks, visible in its own current vacancy list for Regional Agric Finance and Export officers, are worth a conversation at the Ali Akilu Road branch; the Alternative Bank profile sets out its business products. For a salaried worker who simply wants a halal savings account and a card, all four banks will do, and the deciding factors are app quality and profit rates rather than branch distance.

Opening an account in Kaduna: branch or phone

  • Decide whether you need a branch at all. Savings and current accounts at all four banks can be opened on the app or by USSD with BVN and NIN; a branch visit is needed mainly for business accounts, large cash, cheque books and financing applications.
  • If you want a branch, TAJBank Kaduna Main (20 Ali Akilu Road) and AltBank (9 Ali Akilu Road) are on the same road and can be visited in one trip; bring your NIN slip, BVN, a utility bill and passport photographs.
  • For Zaria, TAJBank on Kaduna Road by PZ is the only verified counter. Jaiz and Lotus customers in Zaria should open digitally and use agents for cash.
  • Ask the branch for the current Mudarabah profit rate and the bank's profit-sharing ratio in writing, and compare it with the other three before depositing; rates differ more than people expect.
  • Register for USSD and the app on the day you open, and find your two nearest agents, because agent cash-in and cash-out will be your everyday channel even with a branch nearby.

The account-opening documents and the differences between a Qard current account and a Mudarabah savings account are set out in our step-by-step account opening guide. Kaduna residents who travel to Kano regularly will find the Kano guide useful, since all four banks have a heavier presence there and Lotus Capital's northern office sits inside Lotus Bank's Kano branch.

Hajj savings, financing and the products Kaduna asks about

Three products come up repeatedly from Kaduna readers. The first is Hajj savings: TAJBank runs a dedicated Hajj savings portal and has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Hajj Commission, and Jaiz and the other banks offer target savings that can serve the same purpose; our Hajj savings comparison sets the options side by side. The second is vehicle and asset finance, where Jaiz Auto Ijara, TAJBank's auto finance and AltBank's asset finance all operate on lease or cost-plus structures rather than loans; a Kaduna applicant will deal with TAJBank or AltBank in person and Jaiz by phone and app. The third is trade finance for market stock, where TAJBank's murabaha for traders is designed precisely for the Kasuwan Bacci and Magajin Gari trader who needs goods on deferred payment without interest; the branch will want to see your account history before approving a limit.

Two things Kaduna does not yet have are a verified Jaiz Bank branch address on the bank's own website and any Lotus Bank branch, and we have chosen to say so rather than copy addresses from third-party directories that may be out of date. If you are a Jaiz or Lotus customer in Kaduna and the bank confirms a branch to you, the account still works exactly as it would in Lagos; the branch is a convenience, not a condition.

The decision

If you live in Kaduna metropolis and want a non-interest bank with a counter you can walk into, open with TAJBank at whichever of its seven branches is nearest, and consider The Alternative Bank on Ali Akilu Road as a second account if you run a business or farm. If you live in Zaria, TAJBank on Kaduna Road is your branch, and the other three banks are app-and-agent banks for you. If you already bank with Jaiz or Lotus, keep the account, use USSD and agents, and ask the bank directly about local branches rather than relying on directories. In all cases the product terms, not the branch count, should decide where your main balance sits, and those terms are compared in the profiles linked above. Frequently asked questions

Which Islamic banks have branches in Kaduna?

TAJBank lists seven branches in Kaduna metropolis (Kaduna Main and Kawo on Ali Akilu Road, Kasuwan Bacci, Magajin Gari, Sabon Tasha, Rigasa and Yakubu Gowon Way) and The Alternative Bank lists one at 9 Ali Akilu Road, according to the banks' own websites on 9 September 2026. Jaiz Bank's online locator did not show a Kaduna office when we checked, and Lotus Bank publishes no branch list; confirm both by phone.

Is there a non-interest bank in Zaria?

Yes. TAJBank lists a Zaria branch at Kaduna Road, PZ, Zaria, on its locations page. It is the only non-interest bank office in Zaria that we could verify from a bank's own website. Jaiz, Lotus and The Alternative Bank customers in Zaria can open and run accounts through apps, USSD and agents, and should call the banks to ask about any agent or office nearer to them.

Does Jaiz Bank have a branch in Kaduna?

We could not confirm one from Jaiz's own website on 9 September 2026: its locator loaded 103 locations without a Kaduna or Zaria entry, and it appears to show only part of the network. Jaiz calls itself a national bank with shareholders across all six geopolitical zones and has operated since 2012, so call 07007730000 or dial *773# to ask for the nearest branch or agent rather than relying on third-party directories.

Can I open a Lotus Bank account from Kaduna?

Yes. Lotus Bank accounts open through its mobile app and online banking with BVN and NIN, and the bank runs USSD banking and an agent network for cash. Lotus publishes no Kaduna branch; its nearest published northern address is the Kano branch at 59 Murtala Mohammed Way, which also houses Lotus Capital's Kano office. Call 0700 LOTUS BANK to ask whether a Kaduna office has since opened.

Which non-interest bank is best for traders in Kaduna markets?

TAJBank, on both coverage and product. It has branches at Kasuwan Bacci and Magajin Gari, the two main market zones, plus agents, and its murabaha trade finance is built for stock purchases on deferred payment. The Alternative Bank's business finance is also strong but it has a single Kaduna branch. Compare the two banks' profit rates and financing mark-ups in writing before choosing.

Do I need to visit a branch to open a non-interest account?

Not for a basic savings or current account. All four non-interest banks open personal accounts through their apps or USSD with BVN and NIN, and Jaiz and Lotus customers in Kaduna will usually do exactly that. A branch visit is generally needed for business accounts, cheque books, large cash transactions and financing applications, which is where TAJBank's seven Kaduna branches and AltBank's Ali Akilu Road office matter.
